About Our Service
What hours do you operate?
CarLocksmithAM operates exclusively from 4:00am to 11:00am, every day of the year including bank holidays. Outside these hours, our sister brand Phoenix Car Keys may be able to help — visit phoenixcarkeys.co.uk.
Why only 4am to 11am?
Because that's when the genuine early-morning emergencies happen — and when most locksmith services are either unavailable or stretched thin. By focusing on this window, we staff and stock specifically for it, giving you a faster and better service than a generalist 24-hour operation.
What areas do you cover?
Our primary coverage area is Norfolk and Suffolk, with extended coverage into parts of Cambridgeshire and Essex. See our Areas page for the full list. If you're unsure, just call — we'll tell you immediately.
Are your engineers DBS checked and insured?
Yes. All engineers hold current DBS checks and we carry full public liability insurance. Documentation is available on request.
Pricing & Payment
Do you charge a call-out fee?
We provide a fixed total price when you call — this covers travel, labour and any standard parts required. There is no separate call-out fee added on arrival, and the price quoted is the price you pay.
How do I know the price before you arrive?
We quote a fixed price over the phone before we travel. Tell us your location, vehicle make and model, and the problem — we'll give you a number straight away.
How can I pay?
Card (all major cards), cash, or bank transfer.
Technical Questions
Will getting into my car cause any damage?
We use professional non-destructive entry tools. In the vast majority of cases there is no damage whatsoever. We'll always tell you upfront if your specific vehicle type presents any unusual risk.
Can you programme a new key without an existing key?
Yes. We can generate a new key from your vehicle's lock data or ECU — we don't need an existing key to copy from. This applies to most vehicles including those with transponder, remote and smart key systems.
What if I've lost all my keys and the car is locked?
We handle this regularly. We gain non-destructive entry first, then cut and programme a replacement key on-site. You won't need a tow truck or a dealer appointment.
My van ignition barrel is seized. Can you replace it on the spot?
For most common commercial vehicles — Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, VW Transporter, Vauxhall Vivaro and others — yes, we carry replacement barrels on board. Call us and describe the vehicle; we'll confirm stock before travelling.
I've lost my keys. Should I be worried about my car being stolen?
It's a sensible concern. We can recode your vehicle's locks and/or reprogram the ECU so that any lost keys are rendered permanently inoperable. We'd recommend this whenever keys are genuinely lost rather than simply mislaid.
